Deleting your account & data

Last updated July 21, 2026

You can remove your Bardfolk account and everything in it whenever you like. Here's how, and exactly what happens.

The fastest way, from inside Bardfolk

If you can sign in, this is quickest and takes effect immediately:

  1. Open Bardfolk and go to your Account page.
  2. In the Delete account section, choose Delete account.
  3. Confirm.

That's it. Your account and content are removed right away.

Want a copy first? Before deleting, you can export your catalog from the Backup section of your Account: your songs, lyrics, chords, and details. That export does not include the audio files themselves, so to keep a recording, open the song, choose Edit, and download it there first. Deletion can't be undone, so save anything you'd like to keep.

Can’t sign in? Request deletion here

If you've lost access to your account, email us at bardfolk.official@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my account,” from the email address on your Bardfolk account.

We may ask a question or two to confirm it's really your account before we delete it (so no one can delete your songs but you). We'll complete verified requests within 30 days.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove:

  • Your profile: display name, username, bio, avatar, and links;
  • Your songs and poems: lyrics, chords, notes, and details;
  • Your audio recordings and cover images;
  • Your account details and sign-in.

This is immediate and can’t be undone.

What may stick around briefly (and why)

  • Backups and security logs. Routine backups and logs that may contain limited data are purged on a rolling basis, typically within 30 to 90 days.
  • Things the law requires us to keep. Occasionally we may need to retain limited information longer, for example to handle a copyright dispute or meet a legal obligation. We keep only what's necessary, and only for as long as needed.
  • Your contributions to someone else’s song. If you collaborated on another person's song, your edits may remain part of their song, since they rely on them. Your own songs are removed.
